Meet The Team: Jo Jarvie – Finance & Commercial Manager

Meet the Team | Posted on 10/01/2019

Q: How long have you worked at Solar Power Australia?
A: Over 9 years

Q: What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you have worked on at SPA?
A: Being a Finance and Commercial Manager, I wouldn’t have expected to be given the chance to work on product development. However, after meeting with a mine-site and identifying their need for a solar powered lighting skid, I took the lead on delivering this new product.

With the help of our solar technicians and electrical engineers I was able to design the skid. At the time, the structural engineering and fabrication was outsourced – we now fabricate all of our own steelwork. After taking the product to market, the Solar Lighting Skid became one of our best-selling custom products. We’ve been shipping them all over Australia for years.

Pretty cool project I reckon!

Q: What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
A: “People don’t buy what you do – they buy why you do it.” Simon Sinek
I believe “Why” is a great place to start.

Q: What are three items you’d take with you to a deserted island?
A:

1. Can my family be classed as 1 item? I’m not going anywhere without them!
2. A SatNav phone
3. A solar power system of course

A: Tony Robbins’ best friend

Q: What characteristic do you like most about yourself?
A: My ability to cut through the bulls^&t

Q: If you could change something in the world, what would it be?
A: For everyone to feel safe wherever they are
