System Operation

The solar lighting system automatically activates at the onset of dusk and is powered through the night by long-life deep cycle batteries stored in the base of the light.

At sunrise, or after an adjustable number of hours, the light turns off and the solar panels recharge the batteries.

A robust Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator extracts the optimum performance from the solar panels and ensures that the batteries are charged correctly, promoting long battery life.

Pole Structure

Light poles can be supplied as either hot dip galvanised or with a powdercoat paint finish in a variety of colours. Outreach arms and solar panel mounting brackets can be rotated throughout 360∞ to suit the specific requirements of the site.

The base consists of a galvanised steel box which is filled with concrete. The batteries and control equipment are housed in a galvanised steel enclosure located inside the lighting system base.

Access to these components is via a vandal resistant galvanised steel lid. These solar lighting systems are designed and engineered to resist some of Australia’s most extreme weather conditions. The base features fork tine pockets and lifting lugs on each corner to facilitate easy relocation.

Power System

Our solar lighting systems are designed to run reliably throughout winter and through stretches of poor weather, delivering continuing performance year after year.

The solar modules carry a full 25 year warranty and only high quality, maintenance-free gel deep-cycle batteries or Lithium Ion batteries are used to ensure long service life and maximum performance. The new lithium battery models boast very long lifespans – up to 4 times that of lead acid batteries.

Luminaires

The 30W and 60W LED lamps supply a broad spreading light suitable for illuminating haul roads, intersections, parks, walkways, car parks, loading areas, fuel dumps and endless other applications.
