CSIRO Energy Centre Newcastle

Solar Online Australia designed and installed this 2kW Solar Wind Hybrid - Battery Connected - Grid Feed Power System at the CSIRO's Energy Centre in Newcastle NSW.

The system incorporates a Bergey XL.1 1kW wind turbine on a 20m guyed tower and a 1kW solar tracking solar array consisting of six (6) BP Solar 170W monocrystalline solar panels on our own heavy duty active solar tracker.

Solar energy production is boosted by an Outback MX60 maximum power point tracking regulator and stored in a Sungel battery bank.

With the battery bank acting as a buffer, the Xantrex SW Inverter Charger has been configured to export produced power to the grid under some preset conditions. The quantity of exported power is monitored through the lab's switchboard power management system.
